Love Your Pet with Animal Reiki

woman loves her dog - animal reikiThis month I wanted to take a moment to talk about our pets and how much they are a part of our daily lives.

I have two friends who lost their dogs this past week. One was by an accident, and the other, old age. Either way the pain remains the same.

The puppy stage, though adorable, IS a lot of work. They then start to settle down a bit by two and by four years, routines have been set. I often feel that their lives are just too darn short. They seem to just get out of the puppy/teenage years, have fun with us for a few years, and then they are gone.

And yet, they are incredible years, full of unconditional love, fun and laughter. There are also a few moments of, “I wish they hadn’t done that”. For example, when my dog Dana uprooted my small crab apple tree and ran with it all over the yard. It took me a moment to note the bare space, where the tree was, to this stick tree in her mouth. This is a truly funny tale now.

Those who have pets know that when you come home from an incredibly hard day at work, there they are to greet you. They may only be looking for a treat, but nevertheless, they are there. So often we take them for granted and feel they will always be there to greet us. The stark reality of the truth hits us between the eyes when it occurs.

I know I would often look at my dogs’ age and relate it to my children’s years with the dog. Sometimes the grief of losing this pet is related to how quickly the children have grown, and the thought that they too would be out on their own soon. My children have children, and also have had pets of their own and so it begins again. I would not have it any other way and I would not have missed it for the world!

As you may know, I give Reiki treatments and do allergy corrections; I also do animal reiki for your beloved pet. Dana in her latter years with us had many animal Reiki treatments, which did help considerably with her arthritis. She enjoyed the warmth on her tired stiff legs. I do know she was totally trusting of what I would do to help her.

So for this month of February, remember to show love and appreciation not only to your human friends and loved ones, but also to your furry friends who want nothing more than to be loved, (and treats of course!) Don’t we all!!
